A neighbor claimed that she and her kids ducked inside their house for protection.
Gunfire broke out late Saturday night at a house party in a suburban Atlanta neighborhood attended by more than 100 teens, leaving at least two people dead and six others hurt, according to law enforcement officials.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting started at about 11 p.m. at a residence in Douglasville, which is located about 20 miles west of Atlanta.
“We are aware that well over a hundred youngsters attended a house party. In an altercation, there were two fatalities and six gunshot wounds, according to a statement released by the sheriff’s office on Sunday.
The reason for the incident is still being looked at, and no arrests were immediately reported. Anyone with knowledge regarding the incident is asked to get in touch with the sheriff’s investigators.
Parents of kids who attended the party posted on Facebook that the slain victims were teens, though the names of the two people killed were not immediately made public.
“My child has suffered trauma. Her friends have suffered trauma. A partygoer’s mom said on Facebook, “I am traumatized.
Aerial Gardner, who lives next door to the residence where the incident took place, told the Atlanta ABC affiliate station WSB-TV that she and her family heard the gunshots and ran for protection inside their house.
My kids were lying on the ground. They were terrified, said Gardner.
