Some people seem to be naturally more elastic than others, and that’s okay. Usually, gymnasts and athletes are the people who are the most bendy, but some yoga lovers can actually put them to shame.
If you belong to none of the above mentioned categories, worry not. Here are some of the exercises that most people who are more elastic than the general public can do, but if you can’t do all of them, then just keep on practicing. Give yourself 3 months and by three months, I can assure you that you’ll be able to achieve anything you set your mind to.
Exercise 1: Bend your elbow(s) backward.
Not many people can do this, but if you can, consider yourself lucky, you are among the very few. Try it out and don’t forget to keep the score of all these exercises to see your result in the end. Here’s another example:
Exercise 2: Bend your thumb back toward the front of your forearm.
Again, there are too few people who can actually do this. Try it out, just make sure you don’t break your thumb in doing so.
It should be able to go at an angle of 90 degrees. Here’s another example:
Exercise 3: Bend your pinky down at a 90° angle to the back of your hand.
You can increase the elasticity of your fingers with time, but for now, how about you just check it out – see whether or not you can do it. You might actually surprise yourself:
If not, don’t worry about it. With daily bending, you’ll get there for sure.
Exercise 4: Bend your knee backward.
I bet you didn’t even know that this was an option. But it is. Not many people can do it, but there are some (that have been caught on video or taken an image from) that can. And it seems natural for them.Give it a shot.
Here we go, this is what it would look like:
Exercise 5: Put your hands flat on the floor with straight knees.
Definitely not too many people can do this, but again, with regular exercises is absolutely achievable.Give it a try and see how far you can come. Each day push yourself more and more.
If you can do 4 or more of these exercises, consider yourself more elastic than the general public.
However, if not, just keep practicing!
